SKY BLUES HIT FOUR AT THE SHOWGROUNDS
Ballymena United kept up their recent good form with a four-goal home victory over Newry City.
The Sky Blues moved in front after 21 minutes when Calvin McCurry's initial effort was kept out by Steven Maguire before Noah Stewart latched onto the rebound to find the net from close range.
Adam Salley had the ball in the net for the visitors not long after but this was ruled out offside.
Ballymena doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time, however, with Stewart's second of the afternoon - a deflected finish past Maguire from Brendan Barr's pass.
Jim Ervin's side moved further in front on 52 minutes after Sean Brown played McCurry through to get past Maguire and a couple of defenders to direct the ball into the unguarded net.
Stewart then had what would have been his hat-trick goal ruled out but, on 79 minutes, the home side did extend their advantage courtesy of a Steven McCullough spot-kick into the bottom left corner after Ryan McGivern was adjudged to have handled a Mikey Place pass.
