BLUES MISS OUT ON CHANCE TO GO BACK ON TOP
Linfield missed out on the opportunity to return to the top of the table after sharing a scoreless draw with Glentoran at the BetMcLean Oval.
The Blues could have gone back into pole position following Larne's defeat earlier in the afternoon, but the point does see them cut the gap on Tiernan Lynch's side going into the final four games of the season.
Chances were few and far between in what was a largely uninspiring first half with the Glens enjoying the better of what little openings were created, albeit restricted to half chances from Jay Donnelly and Junior Uzokwe.
Things picked up a little after the break, with Ben Hall heading just wide from Kirk Millar's free-kick while play switched for Jay Donnelly to fire into the side netting soon after.
Donnelly was then thwarted by Blues keeper Chris Johns before, at the other end, Joel Cooper saw an effort turned away at the near post by Aaron McCarey.
Linfield threatened again when Daniel Finlayson had a go from outside the area but McCarey managed to turn the ball behind for a corner.
But Glentoran came closest to finding a way through a few minutes after that when David Fisher saw his effort from Fuad Sule's cross come back off the post.
