VILLAGERS CLAIM DERBY BRAGGING RIGHTS
Loughgall defeated Glenavon by the odd goal in three in the Mid Ulster derby at Mourneview Park.
The sides traded chances during the opening exchanges with Alberto Balde forcing a saved from Gareth Deane while Lido Lotefa produced a stop from Berraat Turker to keep out his curling effort.
The Villagers moved in front midway through the first half when Nathaniel Ferris converted from the spot into the top right corner, awarded after Caolan McAleer had been brought down in the box.
And Loughgall doubled their lead five minutes from the break after Robbie Norton sent in a free-kick from outside the area which bounced just in front of Deane before ending up in the bottom corner.
Glenavon hit back to reduce the arrears on the hour, however, after Turker misjudged a backpass allowing Niall Quinn to pounce and fire into the empty net.
But Loughgall held on to secure the points, and might have restored their two-goal cushion when Caolan Loughran fired just wide through a crowded goalmouth.
