BURNS STRIKES LAST GASP GLENS WINNER
Bobby Burns grabbed the winner right at the end as Glentoran defeated Crusaders at Seaview.
The Glens moved in front as early as the tenth minute when he left his marker behind to connect with an Aidan Wilson long throw and fire the ball into the roof of the net beyond the reach of Jonny Tuffey.
Glentoran pressed for a second as the first half progressed with Junior seeing an effort fall the wrong side of the left post, while a later free-kick from the same player was palmed away by the Crues keeper.
The Crues came closest to levelling just before the break after Jude Winchester had a go from just outside the box but he found Oliver Webber equal to the challenge with a save to his left.
Then, early in the second half, a mix up in the Glentoran defence almost let Jordan Owens capitalise but he could only fire wide.
Indeed, Crusaders continued to search for the equaliser and thought they had found it only for a Stewart Nixon effort that looked goalbound to be cleared to safety ... and they did have the ball in the net after that when Ben Kennedy headed home only for referee Tim Marshall to call play back for a foul on Nixon just as the ball crossed the line.
But the home side weren't to be denied on 81 minutes when Nixon connected with a Jordan Forsythe cross from the right to side foot his first goal for the Crues past Webber.
However Glentoran hit back at the end of normal time after Jay Donnelly played the ball through for Burns to take a touch to beat Tuffey and fire into the unguarded net.
