SECOND HALF GOALS SEE CARRICK THROUGH
Two second half goals helped Carrick Rangers to victory over Coleraine at The Showgrounds.
The Bannsiders came close to grabbing the lead with barely a minute on the clock after Conor McKendry went on a run from midfield but he couldn't make his finish count.
The sides traded chances midway through the first half, with Nedas Maciulaitis heading just over from an Andrew Mitchell free-kick while Jamie McGonigle saw an effort well stopped by Ross Glendinning.
Then, just before the break, Danny Purkis was denied when Rory Brown and Stephen O'Donnell combined to keep the ball out before, at the other end, Glendinning was called into action again to deal with a McKendry effort at the near post.
Carrick moved in front just before the hour mark. A strong Purkis run down the left created the opening for David Cushley to send a right-foot effort past Brown from close range.
Coleraine responded by going in search of the equaliser, with McKendry seeing a low shot from distance go just past the post before Lee Lynch produced a stop from Glendinning.
However the visitors made sure of the points three minutes from time when Purkis showed his strength to get past Graham Kelly before blasting the ball home from close range.
