SWIFTS WIN SHOWGROUNDS SIX POINTER
Dungannon Swifts picked up a vital three points with victory over Ballymena United at the Showgrounds.
The visitors moved in front with around a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock when Dean Curry sent a looping header past Sean O'Neill after connecting with a Leo Alves free-kick.
Ballymena levelled on 26 minutes, however, through Mikey Place after he had combined with Fraser Taylor on the counter attack to slot the finish beyond Declan Dunne.
Dungannon regained the advantage five minutes from the break after another Alves delivery was headed towards goal by Curry, but when that was cleared off the line Ben Gallagher was on hand to turn home the rebound from close range.
Then, in first half stoppage time, Adam Glenny bagged a third for the Swifts after flicking home Kealan Dillon's corner.
United reduced the deficit nine minutes into the second half with Taylor following up on the rebound after Johnny McMurray's initial effort from Sean Brown's cross had been blocked.
And the home side almost levelled a few minutes after that only for Jamie Robinson's header to come back off the crossbar.
But the visitors made sure of the points with in the closing moments when Glenny hit his second of the afternoon with a header from yet another Alves free-kick.
