MATCH BALL FOR GALLAGHER AS SWIFTS HIT FIVE
Ben Gallagher bagged a superb first half hat-trick as Dungannon Swifts swept to a five-goal victory over Newry City at Stangmore Park.
The 21-year-old opened the scoring from the spot on 16 minutes, sending keeper Steven Maguire the wrong way after Cahal McGinty had been upended.
He then doubled up just after the half-hour mark with a first time finish after the ball broke for him on the edge of the box.
Gallagher could have bagged his hat-trick later in the half when presented with his second penalty of the afternoon, awarded following a Stephen Moan challenge on Leo Alves, but on this occasion was denied by Maguire who correctly dived low to his right to push the ball away for a corner.
However Gallagher wasn't to be denied the match ball, and claimed it on 42 minutes when he took it past a couple of defenders before drilling low to Maguire's left.
Alves added a fourth for the Swifts early in the second half when he connected with Kealan Dillon's pass before send a side-foot finish beyond the Newry keeper.
And, five minutes after that, Dillon himself completed the scoring with a nice finish from the edge of the box in off an upright.
