EAST ANTRIM BRAGGING RIGHTS FOR LARNE
Defending champions Larne won the east Antrim Boxing Day derby with a narrow victory over Carrick Rangers at the Loughview Leisure Arena.
The visitors moved in front midway through the first half when Leroy Millar took a touch to send a right foot effort past Ross Glendinning after Aaron Donnelly had sent the ball over from the left.
Danny Purkis might have levelled for Carrick around the hour mark after being threaded through by David Cushley but his well taken effort could only clip the top of the crossbar before going over.
Larne doubled their advantage with just under a quarter-of-an-hour remaining. Millar picked up on a throw-in down the left before sending over a low cross for Andy Ryan to slide the ball home.
But Rangers hit back just a couple of minutes after that. He got on the end of a long ball forward to calmly take the ball around Rohan Ferguson and slot into the empty net.
