CROWE ON TARGET FOR RANGERS
Carrick Rangers made it two wins on the bounce with a narrow defeat of Newry City at The Showgrounds.
Both sides had one chance of note in a scoreless first half.
Danny Purkis came closest for the visitors early on after he cut in from the right to test Steven Maguire with a strong strike while, midway through the half, John McGovern tried on numerous occasions to get a shot on goal after connecting with a looping pass.
What proved to be the match winner and only goal of the game arrived after an hour when, following a period of possession, Nedas Maciulaitis sent the ball over from the left for Joe Crowe to direct it past Maguire.
The visitors might have doubled their advantage soon after only for Steven Gordon to nod a David Cushley corner narrowly off target.
Carrick were reduced to ten men in the closing minutes when Emmett McGuckin was shown a straight red card for an off the ball incident, but there wasn't enough time to City to make their numerical advantage count.
