LARNE SQUEEZE PAST VILLAGERS
Larne edged to a narrow Friday night victory over Loughgall at Inver Park.
Loughgall created the first effort of note after around six minutes when Mark Patton's free-kick was glanced just wide of the target by skipper Ben Murdock.
But the deadlock was broken with just over a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock. Joe Thomson grabbed what proved to be winner and only goal of the game after pouncing on the loose ball from Lee Bonis' initial attempt to drill the ball beyond Berraat Turker from 12 yards.
Larne could have doubled their advantage later in the first half when Leroy Millar blazed over from Kieran Lloyd's cross before, not long after that, Turker did well to keep out an Andy Ryan header.
Tiernan Lynch's side threatened again on numerous occasions after the break but were thwarted by some resolute defending from the visitors, who might have levelled late in the game only for Patton's back post volley to deflect off a team mate before going wide.
