McCARTAN SEALS GLENS HOME WIN
Shay McCartan proved to be the match-winner for Glentoran in a narrow home victory over Newry City in the Sports Direct Premiership.
Glentoran started out the traps with purpose, creating a host of good chances with both Aaron Wightman and Niall McGinn firing efforts over in the early stages.
The home side eventually took the lead when McGinn's corner was knocked down by Aidan Wilson into the path of Shay McCartan at the far post and he had the simple task of knocking home what proved to be the only goal of the game on 26 minutes.
Newry did receive a lifeline though shortly after as Aidan Wilson was shown a straight red by referee Lee Tavinder for a foul on Adam Carroll.
The Premiership's bottom side failed to capitalise on the numerical advantage, as Glentoran had the better of the chances for the remainder of the game but failed to add to their scoring.
