LINFIELD BACK ON TOP AFTER MOURNEVIEW WIN
Linfield returned to the top of the Sports Direct Premiership with an important win over ten-man Glenavon at Mourneview Park.
Glenavon's task against the title chasers was made even more difficult with just 18 minutes, as Robert Garrett was brandished with a straight red card by referee Evan Boyce for his challenge on Jamie Mulgrew.
From there Linfield controlled proceedings and opened the scoring on 34 minutes as Kyle McClean created an opening for Rhys Annett, who placed a shot through the legs of Snoddy and out of the reach of Rory Brown in the home goal.
David Healy's side had further chances to increase their lead through Fitzpatrick, Cooper and McClean - the latter seeing his header come off the cross-bar.
Glenavon stood firm, but the second and decisive goal came for the Blues on 76 minutes after good work from substitute Aodhan Doherty released Joel Cooper down the left and the winger' showed no hesitation as he bore down on goal and coolly fired across Brown to seal the three points.
