BLUES HIT BACK TO BREAK SWIFTS HEARTS
Linfield staged a nail biting late comeback to recover from two goals down at the break to defeat Dungannon Swifts at Windsor Park.
The Swifts moved in front on 13 minutes when Matthew Lusty found the net from the spot, awarded after Chris Johns had brought down Niall Owens.
However Linfield levelled just four minutes after that courtesy of Rhys Annett's follow up after his initial effort had been charged down by the Swifts defence.
Dungannon regained the advantage a minute from the break through Cahal McGinty who met Kealan Dillon's inswinging corner to head home at the near post.
Then, in first half stoppage time, the visitors added a third when the unfortunate Michael Newberry overhit a back pass beyond Johns and into his own net.
Linfield responded almost straightaway after the break with Annett's second of the game, a sweeping finish from inside the area after the ball had fallen kindly for him.
Already under considerable pressure as their hosts pressed for the equaliser, Dungannon's task wasn't made any easier on 69 minutes when James Knowles was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Jamie Mulgrew.
But the Swifts held out until four minutes from time when Joel Cooper nodded home the rebound after his initial shot from a Kirk Millar cross was kept out by Conor Mitchell.
And the by now seemingly inevitable Linfeld winner arrived deep into added time after Millar turned the ball home at the back post after it had been played across the face of goal.
