INVER REDS TOO STRONG FOR LURGAN BLUES
Larne hit four goals past on form Glenavon at Inver Park to move back to the top of the Sports Direct Premiership.
Tiernan Lynch's side almost moved in front during the opening exchanges after Levi Ives' corner was met by Leroy Millar at the back post who flicked it on for Lee Bonis to send a header against the crossbar.
But the defending champions did find a way through on nine minutes when, from another corner, Millar pounced to stab the ball home close range.
However, it proved to be a first half of few other opportunities although that all changed soon after the break when Larne hit two goals in quick succession to effectively put the game to bed.
Bonis doubled their advantage on 54 minutes after getting on the end of a Mark Randall through ball to take the ball past his marker and chip it over the advancing Rory Brown.
Then, three minutes after that, Andy Ryan made it 3-0 after being given a bit of space at the back post to tap home a quickly taken throw-in from the right.
Larne continued to push forward in search of more goals, and might have extended their lead only for Ryan to be denied by a perfectly timed Conor Kerr tackle, with Micheal Glynn then dragging a later effort just wide of the far post.
Glenavon pulled one back with three minutes remaining through Aaron Prendergast who found the net after a quickly taken free-kick caught the home defence off guard.
However Paul O'Neill restored Larne's three-goal cushion right at the end of normal time when the ball fell for him after an initial effort from Bonis was scrambled away by Brown.
