FOUR GOAL GLENS PUNISH BLUES
Glentoran swept to a crushing four-goal defeat of derby rivals Linfield at the BetMcLean Oval.
Shay McCartan opened the scoring as early as the third minute with a finish into the bottom corner after Niall McGinn had knocked the ball over from the left with the outside of his foot.
Daire O'Connor doubled the home advantage on nine minutes. David Fisher laid the ball off to McGinn on the left who, in turn, cut the ball back for O'Connor to find the net with a low finish.
And it got even better for the Glens in the closing moments of the first half when McGinn got his name on the scoresheet with a left-foot volley after a Jonathan Russell long throw reached him at the back post.
The scoring was completed just after the hour with O'Connor's second of the evening, a curling effort into the far corner from McGinn's pass from the left.
