LUSTY AT THE DOUBLE FOR SWIFTS
Matthew Lusty was the two-goal hero as Dungannon Swifts picked up a crucial three points from Loughgall at Lakeview Park.
Lusty opened the scoring for Rodney McAree's side on 13 minutes after latching onto the ball in the middle of the park before firing a superb 25-yard strike past keeper Daniel Devine.
The Swifts looked to extend their advantage soon after in similar circumstances but, on this occasion, Devine proved equal to Tomas Galvin's effort.
Then, later in the half, Lusty sent over a looping ball into the box for Kealan Dillon but - again - Devine did well to make the save.
The Villagers looked to level after the break when Tiernan Kelly's strike look set to find the net but Swifts keeper Conor Mitchell pulled off a superb stop while Jay Boyd could only fire the rebound wide.
But the Swifts continued to look the more likely to find the net again with Adam Glenny attempting to curl the ball into the top corner but found Devine equal to the challenge, as did Dillon not long after that with another effort kept out.
Dungannon did double their lead, however, with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining when Lusty struck again after being played through by Ben Gallagher to slot home his second of the evening.
Loughgall did pull a goal back in stoppage time when substitute Benji Magee fired past Mitchell but the Swifts held on to pick up an invaluable victory.
