THOMSON AND MILLAR SECURE THE POINTS FOR LARNE
A goal in each half saw Larne defeat Coleraine on a wet night at Inver Park.
The hosts might have moved in front with around ten minutes on the clock when Leroy Millar met the ball at the back post, and headed it across the face of goal before defender Kieran Farren was on hand to clear the danger.
But Larne did seize the advantage on 12 minutes through the on form Joe Thomson who ran into the box to connect with a Sean Graham cross and direct a downward header past Gareth Deane.
Levi Ives came close to doubling Larne's lead midway through the first half but his left-foot effort was saved low to his left by Bannsiders keeper Deane.
Coleraine could have levelled a few minutes from the break when Jamie Glackin pounced on an error by keeper Rohan Ferguson only for his shot on goal to be cleared off the line by Cian Bolger.
Chances were at something of a premium after the break due in no small part to the incessant rain, but Larne did almost grab a second at the midway point in the second half when substitute Lee Bonis turned a header just past an upright after meeting another Graham delivery from the left.
Then, with around seven minutes to go, Tiernan Lynch's side could have settled the game after Andy Ryan flicked the ball for Bonis to run onto one-on-one with Deane, but the visiting keeper correctly dived to his left to turn the ball away for a corner.
However the defending champions did bag their second goal with a minute of normal time remaining courtesy of a Millar finish after he had found himself unmarked to head home an Ives corner.
