'GERS TWICE HIT BACK TO CLAIM THE POINTS
Carrick Rangers twice came from behind to defeat Glentoran by the odd goal in five at the BetMcLean Oval.
Marcus Kane opened the scoring for the Glens after 13 minutes when he rose highest to meet a Cameron Palmer free-kick to send a header into the opposite corner past Ross Glendinning.
And the Glens almost doubled their advantage soon after when Jay Donnelly connected with an Aidan Wilson cross only to head against the crossbar, with Junior's follow-up striking an upright.
The visitors levelled seven minutes into the second half through former Glentoran striker Danny Purkis who knocked the ball home from close range after Andy Mitchell's pass found him in the box.
Glentoran regained the lead with 20 minutes to go, however, when Daire O'Connor cut inside before finding Jay Donnelly with a ball into the box which the striker nodded home.
Rangers hit back again four minutes after that. Patrick McClean was adjudged to have handled in the box, and received his second booking of the afternoon as a result. Then, from the subsequent spot-kick, Purkis stepped up to fire past Aaron McCarey to double his tally for the game.
Stuart King's then made the most of their extra man with seven minutes remaining when Curtis Allen sent an upstoppable header from Kyle Cherry's corner past McCarey for what proved to be the winner.
