LARNE CLAIM EAST ANTRIM DERBY HONOURS
Tomas Cosgrove and Paul O'Neill found the net as Larne defeated Carrick Rangers in the east Antrim derby at Inver Park.
Larne had their chances during the opening quarter-of-an-hour or so, and eventually found a way through on 17 minutes when Levi Ives cut in from the left to find Tomas Cosgrove who was afforded the time and space to send the ball past Ross Glendinning.
To their credit, Carrick responded positively and came close on a number of occasions before the break. They did have the ball in the net at one point but Danny Purkis' finish was ruled out offside.
Tiernan Lynch's side might have doubled their advantage midway through the second half only for Lee Bonis to miss the target when he rose highest to meet an Ives cross into the box.
But that second goal did arrive six minutes from time after Aaron Donnelly sent over a cross for O'Neill to direct past Glendinning from close range.
