LATE WINNER EARNS SKY BLUES THE POINTS
Ballymena United picked up their second win of the season with a narrow defeat of Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park.
Although scoreless at the break both sides had their chances to move in front.
The Swifts threatened first with an Ethan Devine downward header but Sean O'Neill dealt with the threat while, at the other end, Steven McCullough blasted an effort against the crossbar from outside the area.
Dungannon did look the more likely to find a way through but O'Neill was on hand to deny Devine again, with Thomas Maguire's follow up being blocked for a corner.
Rodney McAree's side were then presented with a spot-kick after United defender Corrie Burns was adjudged to have stopped another Devine effort with his hand but Kealan Dillon could only look on as his subsequent spot-kick was brilliantly saved by O'Neill.
Ballymena will feel they should have gone at the break in front when a McCullough corner caused problems in the box amid claims it had crossed the line before ultimately being headed clear by Ethan McGee.
O'Neill was kept busy in the second half, too, as he was called into action to deal with efforts by McGee and Devine but despite their best endeavours the home side just couldn't find a way through.
And they were made pay with just three minute remaining when Noah Stewart, on his debut, pounced to turn home the winner from close range after Fraser Taylor had knocked on Alex Gawne's cross from the right.
