SWIFTS BAG FIRST LEAGUE WIN
Dungannon Swifts recorded their first league win of the campaign with a 3-1 defeat of Glenavon at Stangmore Park.
The Swifts moved in front with barely 11 seconds on the clock when Kealan Dillon laid the ball off for Gael Bigirimana who then knocked in on for Ben Gallagher to turn and fire below keeper Rory Brown from just outside the area.
Glenavon responded positively, however, to level just three minutes later through Jackson Nesbitt after nicking the ball off hesitant Swifts keeper Niall Morgan to roll it into an empty net.
Gary Hamilton's side will feel they could have gone in at the break in front after Stephen Teggart went close soon after while, later in the half, Isaac Baird was denied by Morgan and Nesbitt wasn't far away after receiving the ball from Peter Campbell.
Dungannon might have regained the advantage early in the second half when Gallagher was found by Matthew Lusty but his effort was fired straight at Brown.
But the home side did move back in front on 56 minutes courtesy of Thomas Maguire's finish from six yards after Niall Owens had sent the ball over.
Glenavon were reduced to ten men midway through the second half after Jamie McDonagh was dismissed for a challenge on Adam Glenny.
And the Swifts made their extra man count with ten minutes to go. Owens again provided the crucial ball for Lusty to fire first time past Brown into the bottom corner.
