LARNE EDGE PAST GLENS
Defending champions Larne edged to a 2-1 victory over Glentoran at the BetMcLean Oval.
Scoreless at the break, Aidan Wilson had the ball in the net late in the first half but his effort from a Jay Donnelly saved header was ruled out offside.
Then, not long after that at the other end, Dylan Sloan held off a number of defenders before blasting the ball against the crossbar.
Larne moved in front four minutes into the second half through Micheal Glynn who connected with a well timed Leroy Millar pass before beating a defender and firing beyond Aaron McCarey.
Andy Ryan then doubled Larne’s lead just after the hour with an effort into the bottom corner from an acute angle.
Bobby Burns bagged an 80th minute consolation for the Glens from the edge of the box to set up a nervous finish, but it wasn’t enough to deny Tiernan Lynch’s side the win.
