VILLAGERS OFF TO A STORMING START
Loughgall marked their Premiership return with a three-goal defeat of Newry City at The Showgrounds.
All three goals came in the opening half-an-hour, with Caolan Loughran opening the scoring as early as the 10th minute when he steered home a Jamie Rea corner from the left.
The Villagers doubled their advantage midway through the first half. Darren King was adjudged to have caught Rea with a late tackle inside the area and, from the subsequent spot-kick, Nathaniel Ferris stepped up to fire past Steven Maguire.
Then, just three minutes after that, Loughran doubled his tally with a strong finish after a Pablo Andrade ball fell for him on the right side of the box.
The second half produced few efforts of note and, indeed, Newry's afternoon ended on a sour note when Thomas Lockhart was dismissed in stoppage time after kicking out at Robbie Norton.
