GLENAVON MAKE IT FOUR IN A ROW
Glenavon made it four wins in a row with victory over Ballymena United at The Showgrounds.
The points strengthen the Lurgan Blues' hopes of making the end of season European play-offs, putting them four ahead of Carrick Rangers with United a further five adrift.
The only goal of the game arrived after 18 minutes through Matthew Fitzpatrick after he got past the home defence at the near post to nod in Isaac Baird's cross from the right.
United might have levelled not long after the half-hour mark only for Craig Farquhar to see his header tipped past the post by Rory Brown.
After the break Baird came close to doubling Glenavon's lead only for Sean O'Neill to turn the effort behind while, for the Sky Blues, a Sean Graham shot was dealt with by Brown.
Aaron Rogers then almost made it 2-0 but his effort was cleared off the line by Mikey Place.
Ballymena ended the game with nine men when first Douglas Wilson received his second caution of the game before Steven McCullough was shown a straight red in the closing moments.
