SEVEN GOAL THRILLER AT THE SHOWGROUNDS
Portadown defeated Newry City by the odd goal in seven after an exhilarating encounter at The Showgrounds.
Niall Currie's side got off to the perfect start when two goals after 20 minutes fired them into an commanding lead.
Stephen Teggart opened the scoring on 17 minutes after finding space in the box and then finishing past keeper Niall Brady before, barely three minutes later, Paul McElroy added a second from close range.
Newry pulled one back on 37 minutes through the unfortunate Chris Rodgers who turned the ball into his own net whilst from a John McGovern corner.
And McGovern got his name on the scoresheet on the stroke of half-time when, from six yards out, he fired home from a Brian Healy pass.
That was how it stayed until ten minutes from time when Healy found room in the box to send a shot past Ondrej Mastny to edge Newry in front.
But, two minutes into added time, up popped Joshua Archer to equalise for Portadown from a few yards out.
Then, remarkably, Benny Igiehon struck moments after that with Portadown's winner following a scramble in the box!
