LARNE EDGE EAST ANTRIM DERBY
Larne edged the East Antrim derby at the Loughview Leisure Arena but they were made to work for the points by Carrick Rangers.
Scoreless at the break, there were few efforts of note although Joe Thomson did fire just off target from 25 yards while Kurtis Forsythe saw a similar attempt meet the same fate.
That all changed in the second half.
Andy Ryan opened the scoring for Larne just after the hour when he combined with Lee Bonis to create the space to fire past Ross Glendinning.
Carrick levelled three minutes after that, however, courtesy of Kyle Cherry's free-kick in off the far post from outside the area on the left.
Larne regained the advantage with two goals in as three minutes from substitute Paul O'Neill. Ryan knocked the ball into the area with O'Neill nodding in beyond Glendinning before, not long after that, sending a low finish into the bottom left corner from just outside the box.
However Carrick pulled one back in stoppage time after Cherry knocked home a spot-kick awarded after Cian Bolger was dismissed for handball on the line.
