BLUES BOUNCE BACK TO DEFEAT CARRICK
Linfield returning to winning ways with a two-goal defeat of Carrick Rangers at Windsor Park.
The Blues' gameplan was disrupted somewhat after losing Robbie McDaid to injury very early in the game but, despite this, they created the first effort of note when Eetu Vertainen saw a goalbound attempt blocked by Jim Ervin.
Substitute Chris McKee then sent a shot direct at Ross Glendinning with the Carrick keeper then denying Ryan McKay a short time after that.
However, it took until the 10th minute of the second half for the deadlock to be broken after Joel Cooper found Vertainen in space inside the area who then duly slotted past Glendinning.
Linfield looked to double their advantage with both Chris Shields and Vertainen again coming close but, on 77 minutes, Kyle McClean did add a second with a curling free-kick into the top corner from around 25 yards out.
