BURNS FIRES GLENS TO DERBY VICTORY
Bobby Burns hit two goals as Glentoran defeated derby rivals Linfield at the BetMcLean Oval.
Burns opened the scoring in spectacular fashion just after the half-hour mark after receiving the ball from Shay McCartan 25-yards from goal who had done well to create space.
Aidan Wilson doubled Glentoran's lead just three minutes into the second half after he rose highest to nod home a Burns cross from the right.
Linfield might have clawed a goal back following a goalmouth scramble but efforts from Kyle Lafferty and Matthew Clarke were both blocked by the home defence.
But the Glens made the points safe just after the hour with Burns' second of the evening with a back post finish after Conor McMenamin had whipped the ball over from the right.
McMenamin might have added a fourth but was denied by a superb Chris Johns stop, before again coming close but this time Michael Newberry was on hand to make a goalline clearance.
