SHEVLIN GOAL ENOUGH FOR COLERAINE
Matthew Shevlin bagged the only goal of the game as Coleraine claimed the points from Newry City's visit to the Showgrounds.
The league's leading scorer struck on ten minutes following good work down the right from Andrew Scott before laying the ball off for Shevlin to tap home from around six yards out.
The Bannsiders pressed to double their advantage, perhaps coming closest through a Lyndon Kane effort deflected over while Newry defender Andrew Martin almost sent the ball into his own net only to saved by his alert keeper Steven Maguire.
Coleraine peppered the Newry goal for large parts of the second half.
Aaron Jarvis failed to convert a Lee Lynch free-kick, Eamon Fyfe had a go from the edge of the area, Shevlin couldn't direct the ball home from close range and Kane tested Maguire with a rasping shot.
Fyfe had a couple of further efforts, a low right foot shot just past the near post and then a header over from Aaron Jarvis' cross.
Those missed efforts almost cost Coleraine midway through the second half when Brian Healy volleyed just over from inside the box, although Shevlin might have added a second for the Bannsiders right at the end only to strike the crossbar.
