BANNSIDERS AND GLENS SHARE THE SPOILS
The spoils were shared at the end of a dramatic encounter between Coleraine and Glentoran at The Showgrounds.
The Bannsiders might have moved in front on 21 minutes after Andy Scott was upended inside the area by Luke McCullough but Matthew Shevlin could only fire the resultant spot-kick over the bar.
However, Coleraine did move in front barely sixty seconds later courtesy of Dean Jarvis' volley into the roof of the net from close range after Conor McDermott had sent the ball over from the right.
Glentoran levelled just before the break. A Bobby Burns right-sided free-kick reached the six yard box untouched and, in his attempt to clear the danger, Aaron Jarvis inadvertently touched the ball into his own net.
Burns might then have edged the Glens in front early in the second half but his left foot volley fell just the wrong side of the far post.
The visitors did take the lead with eight minutes to go thanks to a moment of magic from Conor McMenamin after he cut in from the right before unleashing a terrific left foot shot past Gareth Deane into the top corner.
But, with a minute remaining, Shevlin redeemed himself for his earlier penalty miss by grabbing the equaliser with an acrobatic close range finish.
