SKY BLUES TOO STRONG FOR SWIFTS
Goals from Andrew McGrory and David McDaid helped Ballymena United defeat Dungannon Swifts at the Showgrounds.
Scoreless at the break, it was a first half of few chances. The visitors did have opportunities through Ethan McGee and Ben Cushnie but the difficult conditions proved to be the dictating factor in how the game developed.
The deadlock was broken in favour of the Sky Blues seven minutes after the break. McGee conceded a spot-kick after bundling McDaid over in the area, with McGrory confidently stepping up to convert.
Dungannon might have levelled later in the half after Rhyss Campbell's shot ricocheted into Cushnie's path but he couldn't keep his attempt from going over.
The hosts made sure of the points five minutes into added time, however, when Jordan Gibson laid the ball off from the right for McDaid to slot home from around 12 yards.
