BANNSIDERS NOW UNBEATEN IN EIGHT
Coleraine stretched their current unbeaten Danske Bank Premiership run to eight games with victory away to Newry City.
The Bannsiders thought they had moved in front inside the opening quarter-of-an-hour when Matthew Shevlin had the ball in the net from close range but this was ruled out following a challenge on keeper Steven Maguire.
However the deadlock was broken on 34 minutes after Josh Carson found a way past Maguire with a delightful curling left-foot free-kick from the edge of the area high into the top corner awarded following a foul on Shevlin.
Then, half-an-hour later, Michael McCrudden made it 2-0 with a low shot from just inside the area that squeezed below the home keeper.
Newry pulled a goal back with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining after Carson conceded a foul in the box with Daniel Hughes stepping up to send Martin Gallagher the wrong way from the subsequent spot-kick.
And the home side might have snatched a late equaliser after James Teelan went one-on-one with Gallagher only for the Coleraine keeper to get a vital touch.
