McDAID DOUBLES UP AS SKY BLUES ROCK REDS
Ballymena United rocked title hopefuls Cliftonville with a four-goal salvo at The Showgrounds.
David McDaid, celebrating his 32nd birthday, opened the scoring on 36 minutes with a superb solo effort which took him past defender Jonny Addis and then keeper Nathan Gartside before slotting into the unguarded net.
Two goals in quick succession early in the second half put United firmly in control.
Kym Nelson made it 2-0 on 53 minutes after receiving the ball from McDaid from the right before, a couple of minutes later, Josh Kelly added a third after running through to slot another McDaid pass past Gartside.
Cliftonville pulled one back with 20 minutes to go through Ronan Hale who found the top corner with a fine finish.
But, with eight minutes remaining, McDaid made sure of the points for United after Ryan Waide laid the ball off into his path to slide home.
