GLENS BACK TO WINNING WAYS
Glentoran picked up their first win in five outings with victory over Portadown at Shamrock Park.
Despite the eventual outcome it was Portadown that started the brighter, coming close through Igor Rutkowski before Mark Russell saw a long range effort deflected onto the crossbar midway through the first half.
Sean Murray might have broken the deadlock in Glentoran's favour but was thwarted by keeper Jethren Barr in front of goal.
But Murray wasn't to be denied in first half stoppage time when his free-kick from around 45 yards bypassed everyone to go straight into the net.
Glentoran almost doubled their advantage just before the hour when, from a Murray corner, Aidan Wilson sent the ball against the underside of the bar.
Further efforts followed through Terry Devlin and Bobby Burns before, with five minutes to go, Burns did get his name on the scoresheet when he bundled the ball over the line from close range.
