CARSON GRABS LATE COLERAINE WINNER
Josh Carson bagged the late winner as Coleraine edged past Carrick Rangers at the Loughview Leisure Arena.
Rangers might have seized the early advantage when David Cushley volleyed just wide from 12 yards while, for the Bannsiders, Matthew Shevlin twice came close midway through the first half after getting past the defence but not keeper Ross Glendinning and then with a header from Conor McDermott's corner.
The home side did have the ball in the net on 24 minutes but Cameron Stewart's header from Andrew Mitchell's corner was disallowed by referee Ian McNabb.
And Carrick were denied again moments from the break courtesy of a superb fingertip save from Gareth Deane to thwart a Kyle Cherry effort that looked destined for the top corner.
Coleraine had a Michael McCrudden goal disallowed early in the second half for handball as the visitors looked the more likely to score as the game continued with Adam Mullan and Lee Lynch creating openings.
But it took a Carson strike on 82 minutes to separate the sides when, following a period of pressure, he swivelled to catch the ball on the volley and send a left-foot strike over Glendinning into the top corner.
