McDAID STRIKE ENOUGH FOR TEN MAN BLUES
Robbie McDaid grabbed the only goal of the game as Linfield defeated Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park.
After a scoreless opening half-an-hour McDaid came closest to finding a way through only to fire over from six yards - but he went one better a few moments later after connecting with a Stephen Fallon pass to chest the ball home from close range.
Linfield were reduced to ten men just before the break when keeper Chris Johns was dismissed by referee Tony Clarke for bringing Rhyss Campbell down outside the area.
McDaid had the ball in the net again midway through the second half when he tapped home the rebound from Kyle McClean's effort off the bar but this was ruled out offside.
Dungannon came close to levelling in the latter stages of the game only for Cathal McGinty to nod against the crossbar after rising highest to meet a Gerardo Bruna corner.
