CUSHLEY STRIKE ENOUGH FOR CARRICK
David Cushley bagged the only goal of the game as Carrick Rangers defeated Dungannon Swifts at the Loughview Leisure Arena.
The home skipper struck on 13 minutes after connecting with Corey McMullan's throw-in to volley the ball beyond keeper Declan Dunne, a few minutes after Matthew Carson had come close with a long range effort as Carrick started much the brighter.
However, there subsequently proved to be few other efforts in a largely quiet first half although both Carson and Kyle Cheery offered up half chances later on.
The second half was equally as uneventful until just after the hour mark when Carson tested Dunne with a low free-kick before, moments later, Ethan McGee was on hand to clear a Lloyd Anderson effort off the line.
Carrick threatened again soon after when Alex Gawne nodded over from inside a packed area with Carson seeing another attempt palmed away by Dunne with around a quarter-of-an-hour to go.
Dunne's involvement in the game ended soon after when he was dismissed by referee Tim Marshall following an incident with a home fan behind his goal.
