BANNSIDERS MAKE SURE OF TOP SIX SPOT
Coleraine made sure of a top six finish this season with a 5-2 victory over bottom of the table Warrenpoint Town at Milltown.
The Bannsiders moved in front after nine minutes through Stephen O'Donnell who connected with Aaron Traynor's cross from the left to touch the ball home from close range.
'Point fought hard to get back in the game, and duly did so midway through the first half when Daniel McKenna dispossessed Ronan Wilson before flicking the ball inside and slotting into the bottom corner.
But a three-goal blitz inside six minutes just before the break put the visitors very much in the driving seat.
Curtis Allen restored their advantage on 38 minutes when, from Lewis Tosh's deeply delivered ball, he sent a looping header past keeper Conor Mitchell.
Then, not long after that, Allen turned provider with a flick onto which Kirk McLaughlin ran to flick Coleraine's third beyond Mitchell. Allen then bagged his second of the evening a minute later when took advantage of the time and space afforded to him from a sliced clearance to tuck a fourth for the visitors.
Warrenpoint reduced the deficit just four minutes after the break after Steven Ball flicked on a corner for skipper Fra McCaffrey to slot home from the edge of the six yard box.
However, rather than have that spark a second half revival Coleraine held on to claim the points and even managed a fifth goal towards the end when Andrew Mitchell converted from the spot after Josh Carson had been brought down in the area.
