HERRON AND NASSERI ON TARGET FOR LARNE
Larne hit two goals without reply past Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park to move back into fourth spot.
Tiernan Lynch's side bossed the early exchanges with both Lee Bonis and Ben Doherty firing over during the opening minutes while, for the Swifts, Ben Gallagher was unable to keep his header from a James Knowles free-kick on target.
The visitors continued to press with Mark Randall being the next to threaten after doing well to get past a couple of defenders on the edge of the area only for his resultant shot to lack the power and direction to trouble Declan Dunne.
The Swifts had the ball in the net just after the half-hour mark when Cahal McGinty glanced the ball home but his effort was ruled out by the referee's assistant.
However, the deadlock was broken right on the stroke of half-time when John Herron edged Larne in front with a composed effort into the top corner from inside the area.
Bonis crafted the first real effort of note after the break on 62 minutes when he flashed a low effort just the wrong side of the right post while, at the other end, Gallagher saw his shot drift across the face of goal before falling wide.
Larne almost added a second midway through the half when Navid Nasseri's low inswinging corner bypassed everyone before coming back off the near post and being subsequently cleared.
But Nasseri went one better with six minutes to go. A stray Luke McKendry pass was redirected into the path of Ronan Hale who produced a superb stop from Dunne only for the ball to fall to Nasseri who duly stabbed it over the line.
Dungannon might have hit back soon after when Cathair Friel and Joe McCready combined for the former to test Conor Devlin but the Larne keeper got a foot to the ball to clear the danger.
