SWIFTS STALL LARNE AT INVER
Dungannon Swifts surprised Larne to secure an arguably unexpected victory at Inver Park.
The home side, fresh from retaining the Co. Antrim Shield during the week, were stunned when they fell behind as early as the third minute after Rhyss Campbell squared the ball across the box for Ryan Mayse to turn home at the back post.
Larne responded positively to falling behind with Andy Scott, Ben Doherty and Ronan all testing Swifts keeper Declan Dunne but they went in at the break trailing to that early strike.
Tiernan Lynch's side came close to levelling not long after the interval but recent arrival Lee Bonis just failed to connect with Doherty's inswinging cross from the right.
Bonis threatened again later in the half, this time from a Mark Randall free-kick, only to head wide from close range.
Other chances followed by Dunne was impressive in the Swifts goal as Dean Shiels' side picked up a second successive league victory.
