McBRIEN FINISH SECURES BIG WIN FOR DUNGANNON
Dungannon Swifts came from a goal down to pick up a huge three points with victory over Warrenpoint Town at Milltown.
It was a crucial encounter between two sides struggling at the wrong end of the table so it was perhaps no surprise there were little clear cut opportunities during the opening exchanges.
The Swifts enjoyed periods of possession during the opening 20 minutes but it fell to 'Point to come closest to breaking the deadlock when Daniel Byrne tested keeper Declan Dunne with a header from Steven Ball's corner.
At the other end, a little later in the first half, Ben Gallagher sent a 25-yard free-kick just past the post but, overall, it proved to be a half of few chances.
The second half started slowly but roared into life just before the hour when debutant Adam Wixted fired 'Point ahead with an effort from the left side of the area which Dunne couldn't keep out despite getting a hand to it.
It proved to be a short lived advantage, however, when the Swifts levelled just six minutes later through James Knowles after his superbly struck curling free-kick from around 30 yards out went over the wall and beyond substitute keeper Andy Coleman, who had come on for the injured Conor Mitchell earlier in the game.
That was how it stayed until five minutes from time. Knowles turned provider with a run into the area before laying the ball off for Darragh McBrien to clinically finish beyond Coleman to earn the Swifts the points.
