SNODDY BAGS LATE GLENAVON WINNER
A Matthew Snoddy goal late in the game ensured Glenavon defeated Coleraine at end of an entertaining encounter Mourneview Park.
The 28-year-old struck with eight minutes remaining with a low, angled shot into the bottom corner following good play down the right to give Gareth Deane no chance.
Glenavon created the first effort of note on seven minutes when Deane saved Peter Campbell's 20-yard effort which looked destined for the top corner while, at the other end, Jamie Glackin was denied by James Taylor.
Then, later in the first half, Glackin's cross was headed over by the onrushing Rodney Brown before the Bannsiders came close again when Matthew Shevlin skimmed an effort past the post from Conor McKendry's ball.
Coleraine squandered a glorious opportunity early in the second half when Eoin Bradley seized upon a poor back pass but, instead of shooting, he laid the ball off for Stephen Lowry who stretched to make a connection but could only send the ball over.
Glenavon threatened moments later at the end through Matthew Fitzpatrick but is fierce strike from the edge of the area was brilliantly turned away by Deane.
Gary Hamilton's side came close again on 58 minutes after Sean Ward found Calum Birney from a corner but the subsequent header was directed just over.
The visitors had another chance with around a quarter-of-an-hour remaining after Glackin's curling shot looked like it'd end up in the top corner but Taylor produced an acrobat stop to tip the ball behind.
However, Snoddy struck just a few minutes after that to claim victory for Glenavon and move them back into seventh spot.
