CRUCIAL POINTS ON THE ROAD FOR SWIFTS
Dungannon Swifts picked up an important three points with victory over Carrick Rangers at the Loughview Leisure Arena.
Dean Shiels' side moved in front after 22 minutes through Cahal McGinty after he got his head to Ryan Mayse's corner to nod home at the back post.
Carrick came close to levelling just before the half-hour mark when David Cushley tested Michael Quinn with a left-footed volley from the edge of the area but the Swifts keeper did well to turn the deflected effort away.
The visitors doubled their advantage early in the second half. A low Mayse delivery across the face of goal reached Darragh McBrien at the far post before being touched over the line from close range.
Rangers did pull one back late in the game when Cushley converted from the spot after he had been pulled back in the area but it wasn't enough to spark a late revival for the home side.
