SWIFTS COME OUT ON TOP AFTER FRANTIC STANGMORE START
Dungannon Swifts swept to a 4-2 victory over Portadown in a thrilling encounter at Stangmore Park.
Joe McCready opened the scoring as early as the third minute when, after finding himself in space, he ran onto a through ball to slot past Jethren Barr.
It was 2-0 three minutes after that, with McCready turning provider to cut the ball back for Rhyss Campbell to fire into an empty net.
The Ports stormed pulled a goal back on eight minutes, however, after Paul Finnegan nodded home from point blank range when Swifts keeper Dwayne Nelson could only punch out a Chris Lavery free-kick.
The frantic start to the game couldn't continue and, indeed, that was how it stayed until a few minutes from the break when Sammie McLeod levelled for Portadown with a back post left-foot volley from a Lavery flick.
The sides remained two apiece until the 79th minute when McCready edged the Swifts back into the lead with a tap in from Darragh McBrien's run and cross down the left.
And McBrien got on the scoresheet himself deep into stoppage time to round things off with an assured finish from Ryan Mayse's cross.
