BANNSIDERS BACK UP TO SECOND SPOT
Coleraine leapfrogged Larne into second spot in the Danske Bank Premiership following a 3-1 victory in the big Friday night clash between the sides at The Showgrounds.
Jamie Glackin opened the scoring for the Bannsiders after 25 minutes with a low half-volley past Rohan Ferguson from just inside the area after the visiting defence failed to deal with a Lyndon Kane cross.
Larne levelled just over ten minutes later through former Coleraine favourite Ben Doherty. Mark Randall created the opportunity with an inch perfect pass which found Doherty who then flicked a first time effort past Gareth Deane with his back to goal.
But the Bannsiders regained the advantage just before the break after a Conor McKendry strike took a deflection of Larne defender Cian Bolger and past a helpless Ferguson.
Coleraine extended their advantage further still just before the hour. Kofi Balmer was adjudged to have fouled Josh Carson inside the box, and from the spot kick that followed Kane confidently tucked the ball away.
And they might have bagged a fourth after that when a free-kick was blocked with the loose ball falling for Carson who rattled the crossbar with his follow up.
