CLIFTONVILLE MARCH ON AT MILLTOWN
Leaders Cliftonville recovered from a Warrenpoint Town comeback to claim victory at Milltown.
The Reds raced into the lead after just two minutes when Jamie McDonagh burst down the right to cross for Levi Ives to sweep the ball into the bottom corner from 12 yards.
Cliftonville doubled their advantage on nine minutes. Ryan Curran found the net on this occasion after being teed up by Ronan Doherty eight yards from goal.
However Warrenpoint pulled a goal back just after the half-hour mark through skipper Daniel Byrne who guided home a diving header past Declan Dunne from Alan O'Sullivan's flick.
And 'Point levelled just before the break. O'Sullivan was again instrumental when his ball across the face of goal was knocked on by Kris Lowe before it came off defender Jonny Addis and into his own net.
Cliftonville regained the lead on 71 minutes with Curran's second of the game, a powerful header from Ives' corner.
Both sides came close as the second half wore on, McDonagh turned an effort behind from a tight angle while, for 'Point, Stuart Hutchinson was inches away from knocking home a Steven Ball cross.
But Cliftonville made sure right at the end through substitute Daniel Kearns after he ran onto an Ives header to lob the ball over Conor Mitchell from distance.
