SWIFTS HIT FOUR PAST PORTS TO EARN FIRST WIN
Dungannon Swifts picked up their first points of the season after a comprehensive victory over Portadown at Shamrock Park.
It took the Swifts just two minutes to open the scoring when Oisin Smyth and Ryan Mayse combined for the latter to slot home from an acute angle.
Sam Warde might have levelled for the Ports on 25 minutes only to rattle the crossbar from outside the area.
However, just after the half-hour mark, Joe McCready made it 2-0 after Adam Glenny had done well to cut the ball back. Ports keeper Harry Doherty did stop the ball but it was adjudged to have crossed the line.
Portadown pulled one back in first half stoppage time. Michael Ruddy was brought down in the area, and although Warde failed to beat Alex Moore from the spot Sammie McLeod was on hand to knock home the rebound.
The visitors restored their two goal advantage nine minutes into the second half. Micheal Glynn began the move with a cross which was flicked on by Rhyss Campbell for Cahal McGinty to drill home from ten yards.
And the scoring was completed just after the hour when Smyth crossed for Campbell to make the most of some poor defending to tap the ball home.
