WARRENPOINT AND BALLYMENA INSEPARABLE AT MILLTOWN
For the second time this week Warrenpoint Town and Ballymena United couldn't be separated at Milltown.
Following a draw between the sides on Tuesday night they repeated the feat in the Saturday evening streamed game.
Ballymena might have moved in front midway through the first half through Conor Keeley who was presented with a chance inside the six yard box but his effort took a slight deflection before going wide.
And David Jeffrey's men squandered a gilt-edged opportunity just after the half-hour mark. Jude Winchester won a penalty after Ben Mullen was adjudged to have impeded him in the box but Paul McElroy could only look on as his tame spot-kick was comfortably saved by Gabriel Sava.
The 'Point keeper then immediately initiated a counter-attack which saw the ball eventually fall for Adam Carroll in front of goal and the Linfield loanee duly fired his side into the lead.
Indeed, Carroll might have doubled Warrenpoint's advantage on a couple of occasions after that but Ballymena had a chance to level just before the break but Sava saved well from McElroy.
However, the visitors did equalise ten minutes into the second half. McElroy did well to run and cross down the left flank for Ryan Waide but his fluffed touch fell for Shay McCartan who wasted no time in firing into the roof of the net.
Warrenpoint thought they had secured the win with just five minutes to go when substitute Brandon Doyle got the better of both Ross Redman and Keeley to beat Jordan Williamson.
But, just a couple of minutes after that, Waide struck to ensure an equal share of the spoils for Ballymena with his first goal for the club.
