McDAID DOUBLE EARNS GLENS THE POINTS
Robbie McDaid bagged both goals as Glentoran returned to winning ways with victory over Warrenpoint Town at Milltown.
The first half-an-hour or so produced little more than a few half chances in front of goal.
Jay Donnelly saw an effort blocked for a corner before he offered up a header from the resultant set piece. Ciaran O'Connor also had a go, as did Brandon Doyle at the other end.
Patrick McClean later tested Andy Coleman with a header, before McDaid saw his point blank range shot well saved. Hrvoje Plum then fired just wide towards the end of what was a generally quiet opening 45 minutes.
The deadlock was broken just before the hour. Jay Donnelly sent the ball through from the right for McDaid who finished beyond Coleman into the bottom corner.
Rory Donnelly might have added a second soon after but his effort was deflected wide off a defender while, at the other end, Adam Carroll could only fire straight at Dayle Coleing.
But the Glens did double their advantage with ten minutes remaining with McDaid grabbing his second of the afternoon after keeping his composure to finish when an attempted Coleman clearance was hit straight at him.
McDaid could have had a hat-trick after that when he was played through by Conor McMenamin but, on this occasion, Coleman did well to deal with the threat.
