EAST ANTRIM BRAGGING RIGHTS FOR LARNE
Larne grabbed the East Antrim bragging rights with a 2-1 defeat of Carrick Rangers at the Loughshore Hotel Arena.
A quiet opening to the game produced only an early David McDaid header wide while, at the other end, Caolan Loughran saw a 25-yard free-kick safely gathered by Conor Devlin.
Larne had the ball in the net late in the first half when Jeff Hughes cross for Ronan Hale inside the box but his low header was ruled out offside.
However, barely a couple of minutes later, the deadlock was broken after Andy Mitchell converted from the spot after McDaid had been brought down by Chris Rodgers.
McDaid might have made it 2-0 early in the second half but his close range effort from a Fuad Sule pass was thwarted by Aaron Hogg.
For Carrick Lloyd Anderson came closest to levelling with a header which looked destined for the top left corner only for Devlin to superbly claw the ball away.
Mark Randall made sure of the points for Larne with eight minutes remaining with an unmarked header at the near post after getting on the end of Martin Donnelly's expertly delivered free-kick.
But Carrick pulled one back soon after to create a tense finish. Randall was adjudged to have brought down Anderson inside the box and from the penalty that followed Loughran confidently fired below Larne keeper Devlin.
